Together, we say “ yes ” to saving lives!

Every animal that arrives at our shelter carries the weight of their past. Some are lost, some are abandoned; all are in desperate need of a second chance due to circumstances beyond their control. Here are just a few of the hundreds of stories that YOU help make possible.

Sirius is a one and a half year old German Shepherd mix. His journey is a reminder of why the work we do is so important—and why we need YOUR help.

When Sirius arrived at our shelter five months ago he was in constant pain. A victim of careless breeding practices, he was born with a hip socket not fully formed, causing the ball of his hip to pop out of place with every step he took.

We knew he couldn't live like this. Sirius underwent an FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) surgery, a complex and expensive operation to remove the painful part of his hip joint and create an "artificial joint".

The surgery was a success, but the journey to recovery is long. Sirius is now diligently working through his physical therapy plan, building strength and muscle to support his new hip and provide him the best chance at a new life.

Cream Puff is a kitten who was dealt a rough hand from the start. He was found as a tiny, terrified stray; barely 5 or 6 weeks old. Covered in fleas and crying with hunger, he wouldn’t have survived much longer on his own.

Fortunately, he found his way to NAS. A flea bath, food, and warm cuddles were just what he needed. With a full belly and a sense of safety, his shaking and crying turned into soft purrs of hope.

Una's story is a one of a kind, powerful reminder of why we must always look beyond an animal's appearance and find a way to meet their deepest needs.

For Una’s entire life, she was forced to live as a domesticated dog; confined to indoor spaces and fenced-in yards that couldn't contain her wild spirit. She was bounced from home to home; a misunderstood soul who could never truly belong.

DNA testing told a different story. She is more than 50% wolf; the product of irresponsible wolf/dog cross-breeding. Armed with this information, we knew we had to find a different path for her. Clearly, her wolf instincts required a special kind of life. Our team immediately began the difficult search for a sanctuary that could provide her with the space, care and lifestyle she truly deserved.

Gratefully, we found a specialized sanctuary just for wolf dogs. Now she can live out her days with room to roam and the companionship of others like her. Her journey shows that a second chance sometimes means finding a new kind of freedom.

Your support is what allows us to say "YES" and change the course of so many others like Sirius, Cream Puff and Una. Please consider a gift today to provide the same lifeline to so many in need!
